Effective particle-hole interaction and the optical response of simple-metal clusters.

چکیده
Following Sham and Rice [L. J. Sham, T. M. Rice, Phys. Rev. 144 (1966) 708] the correlated motion of particle-hole pairs is studied, starting from the general two-particle Greens function. In this way we derive a matrix equation for eigenvalues and wave functions, respectively, of the general type of collective excitation of a N-particle system. The interplay between excitons and plasmons is fully described by this new set of equations. As a by-product we obtain at least a-posteriori a justification for the use of the TDLDA for simple-metal clusters. 36.40.+d, 31.50.+w, 33.20.Kf Typeset using REVTEX 1

Influence of Interface Thermal Resistance on Relaxation Dynamics of Metal-Dielectric Nanocomposite Materials under Ultrafast Pulse Laser Excitation
Nanocomposite materials, including noble metal nanoparticles embedded in a dielectric host medium, are interesting because of their optical properties linked to surface plasmon resonance phenomena. For studding of nonlinear optical properties and/or energy transfer process, these materials may be excited by ultrashort pulse laser with a temporal width varying from some femtoseconds to some hund...
متن کاملPotential energy surfaces and reaction pathways for light-mediated self-organization of metal nanoparticle clusters.
Potential energy surfaces are the central concept in understanding the assembly of molecules; atoms form molecules via covalent bonds with structures defined by the stationary points of the surfaces. Similarly, dispersion interactions give Lennard-Jones potentials that describe atomic clusters and liquids. The formation of molecules and clusters can follow various pathways depending on the init...
متن کاملColloquium: Light scattering by particle and hole arrays
This colloquium analyzes the interaction of light with two-dimensional periodic arrays of particles and holes. The enhanced optical transmission observed in the latter and the presence of surface modes in patterned metal surfaces are thoroughly discussed. A review of the most significant discoveries in this area is presented first. A simple tutorial model is then formulated to capture the essen...
متن کاملSolid State Process for Preparation of Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles: Characterization and Optical Study
In the present work, we report preparation of NiO nanoparticles with well-defined plate morphology by solid-state reaction of NiCl2∙6H2O and the Schiff base ligand N,N′-bis-(3-methoxysalicylidene)benzene-1,4-diamine), as a novel precursor via solid state thermal decomposition method. This method is a simple and environmentally friendly for preparing t...
متن کاملResponse Surface Methodology Optimization of Cobalt (II) and Lead (II) Removal from Aqueous Solution Using MWCNT-Fe3O4 Nanocomposite
The present investigation describes the evaluation of feasibility of MWCNT-Fe3O4 nanocomposite toward adsorptive removal of Co(II) and Pb(II) from aqueous solution in batch mode. The Fe3O4–MWCNT hybrid was prepared using a simple one-pot strategy via in situ growth of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles onto the surface of the MWCNT...
